I found the perfect proposal!

WWW Awards
« on: January 03, 2008, 10:43:33 PM »

Laura found a concert she has to goto in NJ.. It is also happening in FL but I'd rather do my proposal in NYC.. I need to get her there and if this concert is going to help then I'll just do it early!

Problem will be her getting up to NYC early enough and being able to spend a day in the city. I really hope this works its close enough to the date I'm shooting for. I hope this engagement goes off without too many more hitches!!  This is the largest one so far...

Any help? The concert she wants to see is Avenged Sevenfold. If Someone had a contact with the band maybe I could do it with the band.. This would be even bigger for her! Partying with the band in Orlando on the 28th would be the biggest surprise of her life! Maybe there is a large building I could use to still do it up high in a plane.. or maybe I could fly over a large sign I could have made up that was hanging near the airfield or something?

Oh boy is this changing the plans.. .Its her favorite band ever!  How can I contact them and see if this is at all even close to being possible???
Anyone have a clue?

Here's the link to the concert dates...
http://www.rockstartasteofchaos.tickets.musictoday.com/TasteofChaos/calendar.aspx
We are thinking of either the NJ trip and do the proposal in NYC...
or worst case keep the date the 28th and do it in Orlando, FL

Sorry about the quick post I hope it made sense! I typed this while she was in the other room!!!!

I need some suggestions...

Dan, If you could get Joey to meet Dale Earnhardt then you can get Laura to meet the band. Did you try and contact them yet? Offer them a plane ride over the city for a chance to meet the band!!!!!!

You have got a s**t lot of work to do. Lol.

Try getting hold of someone at the record co and explain what you want to happen? Maybe mention that you will see about getting some newspapers there? You know how much bands love to be in the papers.

Sometimes bands love to help people get engaged, it makes them seem super nice lol. So you never know, maybe a lil call would help?

Right, i have to go to the gym but i promise to write more when im back!

Dan,

If the band is playing in NJ, they will be getting some coverage in the news.  Laura's father works for the NY Times.  I wonder if you could coordinate an ad in the newspaper with the advertising for the band.  Not sure exactly what I am trying to get at here, but maybe Laura could read her proposal in the newspaper.  nah.   that's not exactly what should happen.  But let's brainstorm something about advertising and the concert.

Bands always have billboards, or video's playing behind them on stage.  If you could have the proposal on video behind the band, wow, Laura would remember that for the rest of her life!  Ok, keep thinking... your perfect proposal will come to you soon.

Oh yeah an ad behind the band or something?? That is good.. Its far fetched but isn't that what the biggest proposal of the century is all about??  All these good suggestions are getting my ideas turning... A billboard on the way to the concert might be a little expensive but worth looking into.. A chance to fly the band around the city might be too risky but I love the concept. And this band is pretty big I'm guessing they have the funds for a charter... All good keep em coming!!

I contacted the band or the "support" for the band, not sure if a band member deals with this stuff. We'll see if they can make any of this happen. I thought maybe meet them a day early we could just meet at their hotel and go out for a drink or 87... Laura would faint if she saw the singer Matt and I hanging out. This could possibly be even larger than I ever thought possible.  If they do agree or even respond to my email this will make this forum/blog even more special to her.

If the band ever reads this: Thank you for at least considering this.  Smiley

Here's the email I left them:
Quote
If anyone can talk to the band its you!  My girlfriend, soon to be my fiance: http://www.ourweddingproposal.com is a huge fan of A7X we've gone to see them together and she has seen them numerous times... well last night she saw they are playing in NJ on March 15 and Orlando the 28th.  The question I have for you is: Is there ANYway the band would agree to let me propose before, during or after the show possibly a backstage pass and I could propose to her with the band present? You see my original plans where to propose on top of the Rockefeller center in NYC on March 28th, she knows nothing about any of this!! She now wants to goto the concert on or near that day ruining my original plans, so I thought why not attempt to contact the band and see if they would be at all interested in making this proposal even bigger for her. While in Orlando maybe we could meet the band a day prior to the show or a day later? I'm really shooting for the 28th of March and any help at all to contact Matt particular is very much appreciated.

I mentioned my site at the top of this email and of course if we could incorporate the band into this proposal it would be plastered all over my website... I know you/or they have a very large audience but why not have additional free advertising?  Maybe just a lighted sign behind the band that said "Marry me Laura..." Or a backstage meeting with them and a proposal just before during or after that meeting..  Actually I'm afraid if that happened she might pass out for real.

Here is the forum post which explains everything:
http://ourweddingproposal.com/index.php?topic=198

Please let me know if this is even a consideration and thank you very much for reading this letter,

Dan@ourweddingproposal.com

when asking the big questions in an airport you will want to keep a CLOSE eye on everything. People seeing someone giving something such as a ring are what some people know as easy targets. People will be watching everyone to see who will be the easiest to target and get what they want. It happened to friend of mine a year ago. Airport sec. couldn't do anything because it was not cought on tape and they couldn't get an accutate discription of the ring. So fair warining with that.

IF you propse while on location (At her father house) for example then your golden. Have you thought about getting her family all in one room and having a "party" all about her. Then asking her as if in a casual conversation. Here is what i mean "So________ Have i told you lately i would like it if you would be my wife?" then hold the ring and get on one knee and then ask her.

Does this help?

Thanks Christine that is a great suggestion about the ring and keeping it guarded. I think I might even use a fake one to actually propose especially at a Concert *Not airport* and then tell her there is $X waiting for the perfect ring. I've already thought about that. I have a few options for rings and I'm slowly working out those details..

However this topic is about the band Avenged Sevenfold and if anyone had any contacts at all. I really hope I can make a contact or three for this.  Thanks for the suggestion about the party too but I think I want to go a little bigger.  If you have any other ideas or suggestions for ideas you can post them either in the idea contest or the Idea forum.

What I know so far because many of you were asking me:
Band: Avenged Sevenfold
Label: Warner Bros Records
Management: World Audience

I've contacted someone in each area including myspace. I've asked for a few favors from friends and hopefully we can have a drink with the band prior to the concert or a VIP setup or something.  She will NEVER expect me to propose anywhere near the band. Hell she would never guess this would ever happen in her life. Lets make this dream a reality!

I think Ideally I want to propose before we head to the concert then really shock her even more with backstage hookups etc... That would be unreal.

Another update!

Today 1/5 she told me I should propose to her on stage with Matt from Avenged, she thought it was so awesome cause she loves the lead signer.  Of course she's completely kidding and would never think I could actually get her to meet him... We'll see...  She also said he's had a girlfriend for a while so it would be OK if he was next to me and I proposed cause she would still say yes...

She said she would actually say yes to me.... I think its so cute cause she has this big crush on Matt... Maybe he would even joke around and ask her himself.. then I would get on a knee and say, "Him or me baby!"  That would be a story to remember!

Still nothing from the management company as of yet but we'll see next week!

Wow Dan this is getting HUGE and exciting!! I think you can totally pull this off. Mostly everyone is in support of 2 people tying the knot...and getting to be a part of it!!! Keep trying to contact the bad. If you can do it at the concert closer to home, then would have less stress about trying to make sure she has time off!!

Thats true Jen I think I will have a lot more control about timing etc... My latest idea is to fly from FXE and head to Orlando for the concert then before we are about to take off, ask the tower to head back to the hangar to check something etc... then ask if I can shutdown my engine due to my heart being stolen... She will not understand that at all and be confused... I ask her to get out of the airplane...  Thats when I'd tell her how much she means to me and ask her to Marry me!

Then have surprise after surprise waiting for her...  Lots of "then"s in that paragraph but you get the idea...  Grin

I did finally hear back from the bands management company and they are going to see if the band will let us backstage.  So far this is starting to become a reality. I really hope I can make this backstage thing happen.... That will be some serious icing on the cake!

OK things are moving right along... I made contact with the band's manager and according to him the lead singer says, "He's down"... So the manager is going to set us up with backstage passes.. This is probably the best gift I could ever give Laura. I haven't pulled it off yet but I have almost all my ducks in a row!

Can you believe it? I actually might have made this happen! I'm sooooo excited and want to tell Laura so bad but I know i just can't... its too good a secret to tell her.. i need to be quiet for just a little bit longer!

As for the actual proposal.. I'm torn between going back to the NYC plan or doing something local.  I can make the NYC plan work but it would have to be 2 days earlier and I'll have to get her to miss a few classes... How I can ever ask her to miss a class?  I guess maybe I could get her Professors involved but she'd still have to make that decision if she wanted to take a day off school or not?  It would be Wednesdays class only... Maybe she'd go for that?  I'll look into it!

What do you guys think? Should I just keep it local and sweet or should I try for the NYC proposal? The NYC proposal is also quiet and sweet and will mean so much more to her but to have her miss a class and sneak around to NYC and try and get her Dad to meet up for photos and/or video of it.... I just don't know what I want to do with it... grrrrr

If you haven't heard of Avenged Sevenfold here's a few of their videos... They are on all the local rock stations...

Here's one of their older songs that's pretty popular...
